At Darling Green Country Estate, our name isn’t just a nod to our location – it’s a reflection of the way we live. Rooted in nature and driven by the desire to do better for our planet, we’re proud to announce the start of our brand-new recycling initiative across the estate.
We’ve always believed in building a lifestyle that’s sustainable, thoughtful, and community-driven. That’s why this new system isn’t just about sorting waste but about working together to make a meaningful difference. Because when you choose to live green, even the smallest habits can ripple into something extraordinary.
Recycling Made Simple
We know life gets busy, and sorting through trash can sometimes feel like a chore. That’s why our new system is designed to be effortless for every household. So, here is a quick rundown of how it will work:
- Every home will be issued a clear plastic recycling bag, labelled to show what materials can be placed inside.
- Simply rinse and clean your recyclables – no need to sort! We’ll take care of that.
- On Tuesday mornings between 7:00 AM and 8:30 AM, Sebastiaan will collect both the clear and black bags and take them to our on-site Wendy house.
- From there, our team will handle the sorting, and once we’ve gathered enough, the items will be taken to the recycling plant in Atlantis.
What makes this process even more special is that the funds earned from the recycled materials will be reinvested into our estate, going directly towards supporting our workers and helping us roll out even more green initiatives.
A Win-Win for Everyone
In South Africa, where landfills are quickly filling and waste management remains a growing concern, community-led recycling efforts like ours are more important than ever. By joining this initiative, you’re not only contributing to a cleaner estate but also participating in a broader movement toward environmental responsibility.
It’s worth noting that most households typically need to purchase their own clear recycling bags, but as a token of appreciation to our current residents, Heath will be providing these free of charge. And for every bag returned, you’ll receive a fresh one for the week ahead.
Why It Matters
Recycling isn’t just about reducing waste. It’s about reducing our footprint, creating job opportunities, and fostering a culture of care and accountability. By taking this step, Darling Green Country Estate is not just becoming a greener estate – we’re becoming a greener community. So, let’s do this, for our planet, for our people, and for the generations still to come.
Thinking green is just the beginning. Living green is the journey.
